Beatsdigital off the air

The music download store Beatsdigital.com has “ceased trading”. This means that all Matt Pop tracks that were available there, including the full-length instrumental album Vintage can no longer be downloaded. So, it looks like I am going to have to find a new home for my music. When I do, you will be the first to know…

official Matt Pop Kylie remix?

There are some rumours circulating about a Matt Pop mix of Can’t Beat The Feeling by the delightful Kylie Minogue. Well, the rumours are in fact true. Last year, just before Aphrodite was released, Matt Pop did an officially comissioned remix of Can’t Beat The Feeling for Parlophone. The contact person loved the mix, but ofcourse, Can’t Beat The Feeling was not going to be a single (yet). The official reading was, that the mix may be used for “blog promotion purposes”. Until now, there has been no update on its status, so it remains unclear if this mix will ever see the light of day… So, there you have it: it exists, but it may be one of those tracks that remain forever in the vaults. (Please note that requests for MP3’s of this Matt Mix will not be honoured – sorry. )

Matt Pop discography?

A few people have asked if there is a list of officially released Matt Mixes. Indeed there is! On the top of this page, there are two tabs showing. One lists all Matt Pop Remixes, the other all tracks originally produced by Matt Pop. You see: we’re here to help 🙂

New Peter Wilson single STEREO, Matt Mix confirmed!

Hot on the heels of Intoxicated, the first single by Peter Wilson versus Matt Pop, comes the second single “Stereo”, taken from the forthcoming album by the same name. The track was written by Peter Wilson, Ian Curnow and Dave Ford, and produced by Curnow/Ford.  Both are mix/production legends in their own right, and probably best known for their work for PWL, with artists such as Kylie Minogue, Rick Astley, Bananarama, Donna Summer, Mel & Kim and countless others.  Needless to say, with so much pop royalty on board, Stereo is a perfect pop song, with a contemporary, dance/pop production.

The first club mix to be confirmed is the Matt Pop Club Mix, that caters to all of you who long for the days when bright-eyed, blond-haired Aussie soap stars dominated the charts. In other words, the Matt Mix sounds like a PWL track from 1989 🙂

Despite Matt Pop running the risk of forever being known as PWL boy – after similar style mixes for Sonia, Same Difference and Haywoode –  Peter and Matt thought it would be perfect to do a retro mix for this song, because with Curnow/Ford on board, the PWL link was already there. Both Peter and Matt are huge fans of this amazing sound, that was developed by all the producers, mixers and engineers at The Hit Factory over the years. Hopefully, this remix of Stereo will be a fitting tribute to them!
