Where is Matt Pop?

Matt Pop has been chained to his music-making machinery during the summer months  – and  loving every pop-filled minute of it! Four tracks have already been finished for the fiery Sammy Paul, and her upcoming album is shaping up to be a corker! Almighty Records will be releasing new Matt Pop mixes very soon, details will follow.  And following the success of the album Stereo, Peter Wilson will release a new single in a few weeks, featuring a brand new Matt Pop Remix. And yes:  once again chatshow-queen, tv-mogul, music megastar and runway diva RuPaul has taken her diamond-studded phone in her perfectly manicured hands, and dialled Matt Pop’s number to ask for more mixes! Can’t say much else yet, but keep tuning in for the latest news on those.

Finally, adding them up, there are more than ten Matt Pop Mixes now floating around in about-to-be-released limbo. I am assured for example that the Matt Pop mixes of Tell It To My Heart by Raquela and A Little Respect by Nivek Tek, featuring Carol Hahn, will be released this year. But as always, it’s up to powers that be when these tracks will actually become available.

“Stereo” hits number 1 on Euro Hi-NRG chart!

I am very pleased to announce that the album Stereo, featuring many collaborations between Matt Pop and singer Peter Wilson, has hit the number one spot on the Euro Hi-NRG charts this month! The album went top 50 in the  Australian i-Tunes download charts straight after its release, making it a hit record in our book 🙂 I am also told by the record label that many orders for the special 2-disc edition come from Japan, so we are now officially Big In Japan, too! There will soon be a few more previews from the bonus tracks on Stereo on the Matt Pop YouTube page. The 16 track album can be downloaded from most major download sites, the special edition cd, featuring many bonus tracks exclusive to this release, can be ordered from Energise Records:

To celebrate Stereo’s succes, Hans from the Facebook Matt Pop fan page, and founder of the W.A.I.S.T.E.D. blog, has made this lovely artwork:

No Matt Mix of Caro Emerald on YouTube

My latest remix, of “A Night Like This” by Caro Emerald, has been blocked from YouTube because of a copyright claim. She shares this dubious honour with Madonna, Prince and Brian Adams, the three artists I made mixes of that I couldn’t upload. So – no free publicity for Caro on my YouTube channel, eventhough the record company put many of Caro’s acapella’s up for sale on i-Tunes – generally seen as an invitation for Dj’s and producers to come up with remixes of the song (especially in the case of A Night Like This you wonder why else they would release an a capella that has such crude, audible edits in it!)   Oh well…. As a compensation, I have uploaded my fabulously updated mix of I Love Rock ‘n Roll by Britney Spears versus Sigue Sigue Sputnik, this time as a duet between Britney and the fierce Joan Jett!

coming soon: Why (Matt Pop Club Mix) by Sammy Paul

Hot off the press: Sammy Paul is a great soul / dance singer who is currently working on a full-length dance album in Australia. The first single “Why” is a club anthem with a huge sing-along chorus. The Matt Pop Club mix tries to take the mix even higher and according to this tweet by the lovely Sammy herself, Matt Pop may just have succeeded:

Matt Pop – Mix of “Why” just in yesterday it’s so amazing and I’m so grateful BOOM!!!

Thanks Sammy!
