About Matt

Matt Pop is a Dutch producer and remixer, known for his pop/dance mixes for RuPaul, Almighty, Nicki French, Fangoria, Ace Of Base, Hazell Dean, Cilla Black, Erasure, and many others. His style is uplifting, vocal, melodic and electronic. He works from his home studio in France

So, when WILL they be released then?

The single “Stereo” by Peter Wilson, including the PWL-influenced Matt Pop club mix, will finally be released on June 6th. Yes people: we have an actual date now so take out your diary and make a note! And you better start putting aside some money, too, because the full-length album, also called Stereo, will be released three weeks later, on Monday June 27th. This delicious album is brimming with 80’s inspired, hook-filled electro pop and High-NRG, with no less than 7 tracks produced by Matt Pop. They include last year’s succesfull debut single Intoxicated, the Erasure-esque summer bubblegum that is I Live For Love, the kitschy eurohouse stomper Better Run Away and the sultry downtempo electro ballad One, featuring a very impressive vocal by mr. Wilson.

And as if that wasn’t enough good news, I am assured by the big bosses that the album The Bounce Back by the lovely Haywoode, is really, really coming out this year, too! Originally scheduled for release a year ago, it got pushed back a couple of times, while Sid Haywoode was moving to new management. The Matt Pop-remixed teaser single Getting Closer was already a club hit and fan favourite last summer and I would be very pleased for you to hear the rest of that excellent album. The wait has been long enough! Watch this space…

Matt Pop remix of Total Eclipse Of The Heart!

May 23 will see the release of Total Eclipse Of The Heart 2011, a collection of thumping new mixes of the Nicki French classic. Apart from the Glamma mixes, the Twilight Mix and the Total Bromance mixes, it will include the fabulous, full-on Matt Pop Club Mix and the Matt Pop Club Edit. A soaring, classic melody, dramatic lyrics, the powerfull pipes of the gorgeous Ms. French and a relentless hi-NRG beat make this one hell of a remix! Previews of Stereo by Peter Wilson

There are now two short teasers of  the new Peter Wilson track Stereo on the official Matt Pop channel on Youtube:

www.youtube.com/mattpopofficial

The song was written by Peter Wilson,  Dave Ford & Ian Curnow,  and produced by Ford/Curnow. This is one of two tracks they produced for the forthcoming album “Stereo” , apart from the smashing ” Back To The Borough” remix they did of “Intoxicated”.  The single Stereo will be out very soon, the album will follow shortly after.

Matt Pop update

It has been a while since my last post, but I have a good excuse: I have been working my butt off on a series of remixes for the pop-tastic people at Almighty Records. They are all new versions of 80’s Hi-NRG dance tracks, and of 2 more recent hits. Some of the original recordings are loved passionately by many pop fans of a certain age (in other words: people old enough to remember them) , so the pressure to deliver worthy new mixes was high. Luckily, the few people who have heard the finished mixes so far, were very happy – hurray! Keep a close eye on the Almighty site for the release of these new mixes: www.almightyrecords.com

Also, the release of the Peter Wilson single Stereo is advancing rapidly. The single, produced by the P.W.L. legends Dave Ford & Ian Curnow, will include a Matt Pop mix that was done in the style of some of the P.W.L. records from around 1989 (for those not initiated: they were the production team behind some of Kylie’s, Jason’s, Rick’s and Bananarama’s biggest hits). Mastering on the full-length Peter Wilson album, also called Stereo, is almost done, and that album, largely produced by Matt Pop, is scheduled for an April release.  There are other Matt Pop projects in the pipeline, too, so more info to come. Phew!
